Comprehensive Guide to Removing Conditions on Permanent Residence

Conditional green cards, issued to spouses married less than two years at the time of approval, expire after two years. To remove these conditions, the couple must file Form I-751 within 90 days before the second anniversary of the green card issuance.

Eligibility to Remove Conditions:
- Still married to the U.S. citizen or permanent resident sponsor
- Child who can't be included in parents' application

- Divorced but entered the marriage in good faith

2. Marriage ended in divorce or annulment
3. Sponsor spouse died
4. Conditional resident or children were abused
