Enter the U.S. for full-time academic study at colleges, universities, language schools, or other SEVP-approved institutions under the F‑1 visa program.
International students accepted into U.S. institutions certified by SEVP, receiving a Form I‑20 from a school Designated School Official (DSO).
Must be accepted into a full-time academic or language program at an SEVP-approved school and possess a valid Form I‑20.
Must provide proof of sufficient financial support to cover tuition and living expenses.
Processing Time
Regular: ~1–4 months (varies by USCIS Service Center)
Premium Processing (Form I-907): 15 calendar days
Visa Duration
Initial stay: 1 year (for new offices) or up to 3 years (for established offices)
Extensions: In 2-year increments
Maximum stay: 7 years (L-1A) / 5 years (L-1B)
